SUCCESS
It is a sad, sad situation, but not everyone can be successful.
In the world we live in there are winners and losers.
Most people want to be in the group of winners, unfortunately many remain where they stand. As you know, being successful means to stand above those around you, or to know more than the one sitting next to you.
You should understand how to have more success than your colleague, and to work for success.
Success doesn’t come free or cheap, you have to pay for it. The price is not monetary but it is expressed as time and effort, such precious details you can’t get back once you gave them away.
Success is hard.
Generally speaking, to be successful you must work hard, be educated and have a little bit of luck. Often, you have to try many times until you truly reach success.
Not being successful is simple: you make all the wrong choices, you work without ethics, the lack of responsibility and of education is almost everything. Although it is not obvious, the lack of success is also a choice, but a choice that can be gained on the first try.
Here are a thought or two we might try on our quest on how to be successful:
- Build up a purpose in life, create a plan and go on living by it.
- Alter your behavior and learn good manners.
- Always read, always learn and always communicate.
- Think and act fast when faced with an opportunity. If you see what you really want, don’t let any chances pass you by. This one might just be the last you will get.
- Give up bad habits and keep the good ones: eat well and regularly, get enough sleep, go to a gym or just go jogging.
- Give up watching so much television, or playing games.
- Try to work more in the shortest possible period of time.
- Keep your sense of humor, but don’t become rude.
- Cherish everything you have and get.
- Find out more, be responsible, learn about control and always stay informed.
When all is said and done, “success” is specific to each of us. We’re the ones that decide what it takes for us to be successful and when we have reached that success.
5 Ways Virtual Assistants Can Manage Their Time Online
There are many ways to manage time while working online. The computer, Internet, and various other types of activities that can be pursued while working may prove to be quite overwhelming when it comes to time restraints or deadlines. If your income is dependent upon the financial success that you achieve online, it is absolutely imperative that you take the time to ensure that you are maximizing each and every minute of your working time.
Productivity is an extremely important element to the overall success of an online business. In order to reach a high level of productivity, time management skills are a must for every home business owner. Here are five ways to help manage your time while working online in turn boosting your productivity and hopefully income.
One of the first methods you can implement to manage your time is reducing the amount of time spent on the telephone. One of the biggest time restraints that individuals experience are telephone calls. It is quite easy to experience a severe time lapse while working due to unexpected calls, long conversations, and even calls that are necessary for the overall functionality of your business.
One way to manage this aspect of your time is to turn off the ringer and utilize voice mail. Then, you should set aside a time each day to check your messages and return calls as appropriate.
The next way that you can manage online work time is to avoid the act of constantly checking email. Just like the phone, this can take up a lot of your time. You should set aside small chunks of time on a daily basis where you can go through your email and respond when needed.
For the average eight hour work day, I recommend setting aside up to four intervals of fifteen minutes a day to handle the task of dealing directly with email. While this may seem like an awful lot of time at first, you will find that it actually saves you time in the end.
Do you work at home? Do you have children? If so, you may consider setting up a schedule in a way that works well with the schedule of your partner. This way, your partner can contend with the kids and you can focus on your work instead of sitting down to work and getting interrupted after 5 or 10 minutes. If this is not possible, you may consider implementing the services of a babysitter, daycare or mommy’s helper a few days a week. This way, you aren’t neglecting your business or your family.
If you want to learn ways to manage your time while working online from home, it is important to express to family members, friends, and neighbors that you work at certain times and it is important that you are able to maintain a sound level of productivity while working. Come up with times that these individuals may call you to chat or come by for a visit.
Although not always intentional, these friends and family will end up testing you initially and drop by and call anytime. However, if you let them know it is not acceptable and set up appropriate times for these activities, you will find yourself getting more accomplished during these times.
The last way for you to better manage your working time is to take breaks. Yes, I said it! You may not believe that by taking a break you can actually increase your overall productivity, but it is quite true! Why do you think employers allow their employees to take small breaks?
It allows the employee to experience a short time of relaxation and also provides them with the opportunity to refresh! You can experience this too, so be sure to work in those breaks and take them – you can always finish what you started when you get back!
As you can see, there are a number of ways to successfully manage your time while working online. Sometimes, all it takes is a little creativity and persistence to come up with successful time management techniques. Here’s to a better organized and more profitable online working environment.
What is Social Networking?
Social networking is no longer a buzz word, but an Internet phenomenon. It represents a way for people to interact without traveling half way around the globe or even leaving their home’s comfort. Read on to find out exactly what social networking is and its potential to enhance your life.
Think of it like this. We all have at least one friend. To keep in touch with that friend we call, write, and meet face to face. Through our jobs we meet other friends. The more interactions we have with people, the more chances we have of meeting more folks.
Social networking sites provide the platform for getting to know more “friends.” It is like our job or school or church. They supply the venue and we mingle to find people who have similar interests. Someone had the bright idea to package this not unfamiliar social concept into a cyberspace platform. Now, people can meet others they already know but have lost contact with and new people.
Social networking took off among the younger generation first. They found a way to talk to their friends when they weren’t within sight of each other. For guys, it meant meeting girls in a non-threatening social situation. For girls, the feeling was mutual.
But, social networking is not just for the teeny boppers. Adults enjoy social networking as well. The first social networking sites we all heard about were Facebook and MySpace. This was mostly due to controversy surrounding what some Generation Y kids were posting, but it made parents aware of the social networking craze.
Adults use social networking for a number of reasons. First, it is personal. We reconnect with busy friends and family. If you can’t reach Aunt Charlotte because she’s always off around the world on one adventure or another, post new pictures of the kids on your MySpace page. She can view them when she comes down from Mount Everest.
Social networking gurus discovered that while finding old friends, business owners could form valuable alliances through their associations on social networking websites. Now, social networking has become valuable to anyone wanting to develop a website presence for their business. Social networking for business is akin to going door to door and telling people about your product. Create a compelling business profile and draw in the people you know by joining social groups with similar interests.
Social networking has a place in the life of both young and old alike. Use it to meet new people, make business contacts, stay in touch with family, or just to beef up your Internet presence. The wave of the future is social networking. Don’t you want to join?
What Makes Twitter so Hot?
Oh Twitter how I love thee! Although you might not hear those exact words said very often online, you know it’s true when you login to your Twitter account or visit someone’s blog. With the emergence of WordPress plug-ins like “TwitThis” and the various twitter badges found on numerous blogs throughout the Internet, it is obvious people adore Twitter. Just what is it that makes this social networking site so lovable? Let’s find out.
The question posed by Twitter, “What are you doing?” has become almost as popular as AOL’s “You’ve got mail.” So much so that it has even caught the eye of offline news mediums such as USA Today, CNN, and ABC. This helps to make the application popular all on its own. Those who think Twitter is just a place for computer or Internet geeks can rest assured it’s nothing of the sort.
For many, Twitter is a way to interact with like-minded individuals. Whether one is a stay at home mom who craves adult conversation, an at home worker who misses the water cooler chit-chat from past jobs, or the business owner who wants to reach more of their target market, this form of social media fills a need. It makes it easier for people to connect with others in a way they might not have previously been able to.
The fact Twitter is easily accessible and even simpler to navigate makes it a favorite as well. Anyone can create a twitter account of their own with nothing more than a user name and a password. Once that’s done, it’s easy to customize your profile and begin following other tweeps, as those who use Twitter affectionately call one another. To follow what another person is doing, just visit their page and click the follow button. You’ve now been added as a follower and when you login to your account you will see their messages on your screen.
Want to use Twitter even when you’re not at home or don’t have access to your computer? No problem. Inside your account you can choose whether to have messages sent via cell phone or instant messenger programs as well. Just browse to your settings and choose the devices tab and in a few steps you’re good to go. This feature makes it possible to tweet on the go. This is perfect for those who travel frequently or while out and about come across something interesting or amusing that they’d like to share with their followers.
Twitter’s arrival has also lead to the creation of different platforms and applications to make it appealing to just about everyone. Popular applications include, Twitter Fox, Twhirl, TweetDeck, and TweetMyBlog. Twitter Fox and Twhirl give users who are prefer the instant messaging look and feel a way to use Twitter in somewhat the same manner. Twitter Fox is an extension for the Firefox browser and Twhirl is a desktop application.
TweetMyBlog is a way to automatically post updates from a user’s blog to Twitter. In order to use it all one needs is a Twitter account and an RSS feed from their blog. It will automatically posts a tweet using your account when your blog is updated.
Tweet Deck is another desktop application that allows for more organization of updates. Instead of posting all a users tweets one right after another, it allows the user to organize tweets into separate columns within the application. For those who have customers and friends on Twitter this is a great feature.
How you gonna keep ‘em down on the farm?
When visitors come to your Web site, whether by choice or by a chance click, what do you have to make them want to drag out the lawn chair, the drinks and stay for a while?
If you didn’t answer with “a content-rich Web site”, you might want to pay attention to this.
Why would you want to build content-rich websites?
Well, in short, “Because it keeps people on your site for awhile, it makes them come back,” and “because they can’t wait to tell their friends about ‘that site.’”
But why?
Well, for one thing, when people—whether they’re actually potential customers, current clients, or just surfers in general–come to a Web site, they will generally stay on a site that’s rich in content because it takes a while to read an article or two. Thus, while they’re reading the material, their side vision catches little ads and other “window dressing” you’ve got there that happen to surround that article.
Now, if people start to realize that a certain site has content they like, that’s good, and in particular, if you have different content that is constantly updated and changed, they’ll make it a point to return frequently to see what’s new. The awfullest thing in the world is to have a stagnant Web site that never changes.
“Those people” will visit exactly twice—the first time to check it out, the second time to see what’s changed; when they realize it’s the “same ole, same ole”, most likely they won’t come back.
Ever!
Here are a couple hints for creating a content-rich site
1. Of course, you’ll have your regular content that describes your business and you, which will be extremely eye-catching. But that’s not all you want. Include lots of informative articles that you center around a theme.
As you know, most sites usually can’t quite pass off believability as a “WikiPedia” so they specialize. Because the attention span, as well as the “time allotment”, of many individuals gets shorter and shorter, the general rule of thumb is to have articles at your site that are short enough they take about 5 minutes to read.
This means you want to stick to articles of 250 to 750 words, with 300 to 600 words being optimal. For instance, when measuring and estimating sizes I usually have no clue as to “lengths of football fields” or the “bigger than a breadbox” thing, so here’s an easy visual to give you an idea of size–a single page in a published novel has about 300 words.
2. Of course, your real purpose for putting all these nice little short articles at your site and frequently changing them is not to just put information out into the world. It can also be to have people want to return. Because when they do, your hope is they will see your Google AdSense ads (if you have them), which they’ll click on, and generate regular checks for you.
Key point bears repeating
A Web site loaded with rich content is intended to attract people, again and again. So that upon their return, they will see the ads and click on them. If you ask anyone what draws someone to a Web site, what makes it attractive to the visitor, they’re often most likely to say it’s lots of cool graphics and the colors.
But really it’s the content
And unless your Web site is content-rich, any traffic spikes you get for your efforts will just be temporary.
Rinse and repeat
The very best way to “attract and retain” an online audience is to provide content that’s useful, valuable, informative, educational, entertaining in some way, or just downright funny as all get out.
People like to laugh. People like to gravitate to some place or someone that represents fun. Let that place and someone be your Web site and you.
